New Kicks

"I can do Hong Kong Phuey jumps higher in my new tennis shoes than PF Flyers!" - Henry
Lucy's choice of sock states her excitement even more clearly.

Ooh la la

Just finished this mantilla-style veil made with antique italian lace.  It's the first one I've made that I want to keep for myself.  Lucky for the bride, I have nowhere to wear it, so will end up delivering it to her next week after all.

Messy

Yes it is Jessica.  Yes it is.  Thank you for this!

Duck Wars

This peaceful afternoon activity quickly turned to carnage.  I don't think the ducks are getting many visitors this fall...we'll have to get some mini SWAT uniforms and make a regular trip of it.

Lulu's Bed

Sunday was spent buying Lucy a Big Girl bed and all the fixin's.  She was so excited and had a pretty good night...a little wakey wakey, but not too much drama.  I never thought I would say this, but I love her princess fairy sheets.

0 and 1

We lost to the amazon girls of t-town this morning, but all in all it was a good game.  Our Coach is so amazing, all he said to the boys was "nice kick!" when we scored three consecutive goals for the other team.  We're so happy to be Shamrocks!  PS.  That is Henry's friend Walter on the right who looks like he is giving the other team the bird.  He just might be, I'll have to ask him at practice next week!  :)

Commitment Hours

I was able to knock out 4 of my 15 'commitment hours' for St. Pat's Harvest Festival Cake Walk this weekend.  This is the first time I've ever made chocolate or cream cheese frosting before.  Not bad, but I think I'm still a vanilla girl.  These are just boxed cakes, but I think a little flag goes a long way!

Renesme McDougall

John - "Lu, you look like you've been eating a deer!"
Lucy - "Push-Pops are my favorite."

Hey Punkin'!

Oh Lucy...

...we took away your binkie yesterday.  I took a knife to the heart tonight when you said between sobs, "mommy, my binkie is gone forever."  My chest is tight.  If I was even a little less sober, I would give that bink right back to you and keep you a baby forever.  Sad.  Please wake up tomorrow and pee on the floor or hit your brother or fling soggy cheerios across the table at Brodie so I can stop feeling like this.

Light the Night

It rained. It poured. We ran in puddles. We made it the whole way! We lit the night for Leukemia and Lymphoma. Thanks for having us Jordan and Lisa! This was a good thing.

Shed Update

Phew. Lots still to do, but I'm feeling 'real good Clark' about my progress. For the record, my favorite job to-date has been installing the roof. Really more fun than I imagined it could be. Maybe when both the kids are in school, I'll join a roofing crew somewhere. :)

Fall Sun

Lucy thought the sun felt "warm on my nieck" yesterday. Grandma came and brough Halloween stickers and pencils and other treats and even came along to watch Henry's soccer practice. Thanks Pati - we all really enjoyed having you with us yesterday!

Double Duece

Henry's first jersey is proudly displayed here. The St. Patrick Shamrock's have yet to play a real game, mostly they are learning how to put on shin guards and kick the ball between eachother's legs. I am told the freshest move on the field these days is called a "nutmeg". I obviously have a lot to learn.

Three Cheers for NICU Nurses Everywhere

(Corinne Ebersole)
After visiting my cousin's new baby in Emanual's NICU in Portland yesterday I was reminded of our time with Henry in Tacoma General's NICU. I saw this etched into the wall of Emanual's NICU and was compelled to snap a shot. So, here is my shout out to NICU nurses everywhere, some of you are my best friends, some of you saved our son's life, some of you have done the same for my friends' babies and now my cousin's. We owe you more than you can imagine and we appreciate the delicate and unyielding job you do. Three cheers for NICU nurses everywhere! And welcome Miss Corinne, you are a sight!
