Poker Night

If I'm being honest, I told Jack our little late night game felt more like a cross between a sobriety test and a game of truth or dare...but fun either way. Good idea Daddy.

Farm Table for 6...

...plus a few small children. After a couple years of talking about how I'd like a table that would fit more people, more comfortably, I drove home with one today. I'm pretty happy with this new table, it doesn't have any grooves to spill milk into, won't require guests to stradle a table leg to enjoy a meal with us, and cost about 20% of it's Pottery Barn look alike.

Our much loved, but outgrown little table was passed to John before we were married by my Mom and Dad. It was the first peice of furniture they bought when they were married and while we have loved havingt it, we will now pass it onto my sister Meg, when she moves here in June. It'll be fun to go to her house and share a meal on it there!

She's a Lady

For the record, I highly recommend the "self-inflating" whoopie. Maximum fun, with minimum parental involvement.

With or Without?

Just finished window #1. Should I keep or toss the grass blinds that were there before? They definitely help with sun in the summertime, but I'm not sure if they crowd the window or not. Votes?

On the Mend and at the Zoo

Good News: Everyone over here is feeling better today.
Bad News: We infected Will sometime during the Croup's 2-6 day incubation period. So sorry Will Will! Available to deliver Codine and/or Nebulizer anytime, free of charge!

Point D. Zoo is so fun. We've been there at least twice a week for the past two years and I'm still not sick of it. I figured out today we use our membership so often, we each pay about $0.25 per visit. Not bad...sort of makes me feel guilty, like I should make a donation or something. Maybe next year!

The Croup

Don't worry I've spared you all a video of the hacking and urping and wheezing, but let me assure you, there has been plenty of it. There is however, something sweet about a sick kid...at least their Mom thinks so. Lucy just learned to say "I love you" and adds a "too" on the end of it every time. She's somethin' else that girl.

Picked up a handy dandy nebulizer for Henry today and he is feeling a bit better, but his hair alone disqualified him from any video footage. Just kidding Henny, we adore your napped-on mop.

Currently accepting prayers for open airways and some sleep if anyone wants to send them our way.

Forts are fun...

...and that's that.

I Love T-Town

Nice to watch the sailboats float by while the kids rode bikes in front of our house. Today, I felt like one lucky duck to live where we do. Life is slow yet urban, the community is friendly and diverse, we have our good and bad, but for me, I've experienced far more good. I love it here. Go Tacoma!

Good Point Henry

The Scene: Lucy and Henry wresting UFC style on our bed.

Henry: "We're wrestling Mom."
Mom: "I see that, but you should be careful for your sister. She's just a little girl, you know?"
Henry: "But she has teeth."
Mom: "Good Point."

Geez Mom, Not Again!

Today's Mom Endorsement: Gray's Lumber in Tacoma. They are the Starbuck's drive-thru of hardware stores. You can literally leave your kids in the car while they ring you up, pull stock of what you ordered and load the car for you. Go Gray's!

Open Houses

We've hit a bunch of open houses and still a few more to attend. I'd highly rec. to my pals with kids to do the same. Whatever we thought we knew, we didn't.
Best Lesson Learned: The choice of a school for Henry should not be based on what we think we can or want to afford, or how much we liked the teachers, or how much we didn't like the clutter in a classroom, or how big the class size was or how much we thought we would like the other parents and kids at a particular school...it should be based on how well Henry will do there academically, socially and otherwise. The decision to put his needs above our likes and dislikes is a valuable lesson, especially for me. Thanks for the wisdom on that Jack.

Wish us luck! And special thanks to Malia and Brit for watching Lucy during these events. Although we love our little sister, we did not need her input. :)

Projects: Color Update

I had actually decided on the light color before most of you commented. I guess the early bird does get the worm Emelie! However, when I got it home, it was neither the lighter nor the darker color. It was somewhere inbetween and as I had already spent the money on a gallon and I am doing this myself to save money, I decided to go for it. Perhaps all the dark votes magically spoke to the guy mixing paint at Lowe's. Not bad...but progress is slow. Puting in crown moulding with two kids underfoot is not hard, but it's definitely not easy either. I'm just moving from one wall to the next trying to keep the mess minimal and livable. I can't wait to get to the wall with curtains...they are black and cream, can't wait.
