36 Weeks!

We have made it to 36 weeks! Our last ultrasound was taken today. Baby measured 6 lbs. 11 oz today. The video above is of the baby licking its fist and yawning followed by more fist sucking. To help orient you, her eyes are looking NW. Her tongue is pretty unmistakable! Enjoy.

In other pregnancy related news, I am 50% effaced and 1cm dialated. We have a repeat cesarean scheduled for the week of June 16th, but if labor begins before then, we will just see what happens!

Thanks to everyone who called today to congradulate us on bed-rest graduation. I think I'll go to Costco to celebrate!

Aunt Jessica's Toe

Today in our 35 week ultrasound we discovered that our little girl has a sweet little second toe that is slightly longer than her big toe. I knew this was a genetic trait, and thought all the way home from the doctor about in whom I had seen this trait in our family. Finally, I remembered...it was Aunt Jessica! Well, if matching toes is any indication of our baby inheriting Jessica's genes, she is one lucky girl! Love you Aunt Jess!

The ultrasound tech was also able to take some measurements today to estimate the baby's weight. Drum Roll....nearly 6.5 lbs! My cervix is significantly thinner this week than last, so that may indicate that some activity is not too far away. But with her potentially weighing in at almost 6.5 lbs already, I'd say having her come in a couple weeks would not be unwelcome!

Whew - Hard Working Crew!

So many helpers here this weekend: Grandma Pati, Grandpa Al, Aunt Ali, Cousin Simon, Tookie and Grandpa Mike. The men managed to power wash the patio and mount our new TV on the wall. The ladies attended a luncheon put on by Malia and Betsy to welcome Baby. Sunday, Henry helped Grandma Pati with a major weeding project in the back yard. What would I do without my hard working crew?

33 Weeks and What a Day!

7:00AM - Henry wakes up, eats and waves goodbye to Tookie (love you Tookie!)
10:00AM - Courtney arrives with Adelaide, Chandler and Raleigh (left to right) followed by Malia with Will to watch Henry while I go to the Doctor (thanks friends!)
11:00AM - I come home from the Doctor (all goes well!) and Henry leaves with his friends to go to the Zoo
8 hours later, it gets interesting...
7:00 - Henry goes to bed.
7:30 - Both kitchen sinks starts filling up with brown water and other unmentionables, smelling of oil, including flies, clay, hair etc.
8:00 - Mr. Roto Rooter arrives, charging out at $200/hour
8:15 - Mr. Roto rooter takes me to the basement where the laundry room has competely flooded (sadest part - ruining all my martha stewart magazines and some decorative paper storage boxes I had stored them in)
8:30 - Henry awakes to sounds of electric hammer drain snake
9:00 - Mr. Roto Rooter leaves with our credit card number and a scolding about:

  • not putting ANYTHING down the garbage disposal (or removing it altogether, unless I really liked him and wanted to see him again - he's an expensive date)

  • not using powder dishwasher detergent

  • not using powder laundry detergent

  • once a month: using some kind of draino product and 8 hours later filling your sinks up completely letting them drain at once to self flush the line

John is in Portland for the night with customers - which although I would have probably liked to trade places with him, I could tell he would have much rather been here helping us. Poor Jack - but someone has to work around here so the Roto Rooter man gets paid! :)

10:00 - Liz throws whatever towels she has on the laundry room floor and shuts the door

10:15 - Liz goes to bed

Somehow, everything is always better in the morning light. Wish you all a good day!

32 Weeks

Well, another week under our ever-expanding belts and good reports at the US today. My cervix is looking unchanged, perhaps even slightly longer than two weeks ago. So, all this rest is working! I had a lot of help this week from John of course, but also my Mom and Malia so that definitely helped me take it easy. The above US is a profile shot taken today - a little hard to make out, but the US tech said, "Oh, she is beautiful. What a profile?". I'll take her word for it. Malia has had Henry all morning. Thanks Mia - and here's a shot of two slide climbers at the park together a few days ago.
