Skate Slang

Diamondz- (Die-Mond-s) Adj. A super smooth or perfectly executed trick. "Man that kickflip was diamondz."

Smooth- (Smoo-th) Adj. A trick that is performed above normal standards, but not quite diamondz. "Man, that nooseslide was smooth."

Sketchy- (Sket-chee) Adj. A trick that needs some work, or looked not so nice. "Man that boardslide was sketchy."

Man, we're learning. A good start is to begin every sentence with man. So, we've got that down.

"Thy Thy"

So it's a bit of a parade wave, but a wave none the less. Courtney actually got the first one a few weeks ago!

You're Killin' Me Nancy

Henry loves Nancy Drew and I can't help but be inspired by "Hanna's Baked Goods". Sucked in again, I found a killer lemon bar recipe and adjusted it to suit my very particular sweet tooth.

LEMON BARS
crust:
1 1/4 C flour
1/2 C confectioners sugar
1/2 t salt
8 T butter
combine dry ingredients in food processor and then add butter in 8 pads until "cornmeal" like in texture. press into greased or foil-lined 9x9 pan. bake at 350F for 20 min.

filling:
7 large egg yolks
2 large eggs
1 C and 2 T white sugar
2/3 C lemon juice (MUST be fresh)
1 T lemon zest (zest NOT grate)
4 T butter
3 T heavy cream
while crust is baking, whisk together all ingredients (except cream) over med. heat until thickened and candy therm. reads 170F. immediately strain mixture (VERY IMPORTANT) and add cream. pour hot mixture over hot crust and bake at 350F for another 10-15 minutes.

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

And We're Back

After nearly 2 weeks away from home and another week with a dead computer, we're back in action. Although by the look of things, I still might be juggling a little too much around here.

Congratulations Heather and Scott

Heather and Kenny
Colin, Paula & WalkerAmy and Walker
Hillary & JoeySorry Scott, didn't capture any good ones of you! :) Great fun at the Thompson/Bulloch wedding this weekend in Bend. Henry requested we "go to the wedding now?" for the three days leading up to the actual event. We didn't realize just how much fun he was planning on having. Young "wedding crasher"? He danced like he knew how and I'm so glad to have this triage of videos showing the stages of his first wedding "pick up".

Stage 1: Check out my moves Babe.

Stage 2: Who, me? That's cool, I knew it.

Stage 3: Uh Oh, I may have a "Stage 5 Clinger" on my hands.
