Boot Hunt

Just ordered these three boots.  Hoping I'll be able to choose one of them, just one.  Although I hear 2 out of 3 'aint bad.  I might have tracked one of these down after seeing 'Brittany' wearing them on Glee last week.  Any guesses?

You Tell Me...

...In what way does one use a fat separator to make Mac and Cheese?  These were dishes left out by our babysitter lastnight.  And in case you are thinking she used it to measure the milk.  Wrong answer, the 1/4C measuring cup was also in the sink.  I'm just glad she was able to turn the stove off.

Happy Valentines Day

I found these dueling love notes written in chalk on the Ruston Waterfront Path.  They were written every 20 feet for about 2 miles.  These are a few of my favorites.

Sugar

5 blocks from our house, you'll find the sweetest little candy store that ever lived, "Sugar".  I took my funny valentines there today to pick out a treat.  One more reason I love Tacoma.

Marvelous Mimi

We said Goodbye to my Grandma Mimi today.  She was quite a woman, very much a part of who I am and what I do and say and even look like.  Just today I looked in the mirror and felt like I saw her nose for the first time on my face.  Well I loved her so much and knew her so well, I can hardly be sad she that she is gone, just glad that I could have loved her and known her so deeply.  She has always been a wild and crazy gal and an extra good grandma, but as I've grown up I've realized how much I thought of her and respected her in a different way.  She was inspiring, smart, energized, nothing was too big, too hard, too much for her.  She was a trailblazer and a mountain climber and a hero of mine.

From our visit with Mimi last week.  I've declared this 'game weekend' in her honor.  She loved a good game.  We'll be drinking and playing a different game every night.  All are welcome!

Double Date

It was an unusually rough day at "the office" today and Daddy is out of town.  So when the clock struck 5, I asked my best pals on a double date.  We played at the park until it got dark and then went to our favorite indian restaurant together.  Double dates are perfect for those who can't choose a favorite.  I love these critters.  And they love their Murg Methi Malai.

One Cozy Quilt - Check!

My friend Sarah 'commissioned' this queen size quilt a couple months ago.  It's the first I've ever made of its size.  Well Sarah, it's complete and I'm having trouble letting go.  I would be a terrible surrogate.  Your invoice may include one glass of white wine with ice upon delivery.

Portland Power

I brought the kids down here for a weekend of visiting my family and for some reason felt a real tourist this time around.  North Portland is morphing, and I really really liked what I saw.

 Spielwerk Toys on Williams

Lodekka Double Decker Dress Shop on Williams

 Lucy on the "Upper Deck"

 Flavour Waffle Cart on Lombard

The Sausage and Maple Syrup Waffle

The Strawberries and Cream Waffle
One of many really cool shopfronts.  I've found new hunting ground.

More Cousins

More new cousins and second cousins keep cropping up all the time around here.  We love it!  I am so thankful for all my cousins and love seeing my kids interact with their kids and watch all the funny little similarities between them.  Keep 'em coming gang!

Corinne (my cousin Jessica's daughter - Mom's side)
Henry and Ali (my cousin Amy's daughter - Dad's side)
Garrett (my cousin Amy's son)
