The Dude Can Read!

Henry's first reading of a new 'story' tonight in our reading lesson book (lesson 39 of 100 in Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons). My Dad used this same book to teach me to read, and it seems to be working just as well 28 years later.  I think we can say now with certainty, "the dude can read"!  So cool.

So so cool! Michael has been showing a lot of interest in reading lately (asking what things start with, trying to sound out street signs, etc). Well we sat down tonight for our first formal lesson... Drove. Me. Nuts. He got it, but was crazy. Think we will be putting the formal lessons on hold for the time being:)

You can send Michael over here in his PJs (Oh yea, what else would he be wearing?) at 7:30 nightly for a group lesson.

What a fun video - to be able to hear Henry, and watch his hand, as he sounds out the words. Wonderful. Thank you for sharing a precious moment! Love, Gramma Pati

Seriously, this almost brought me to tears for these reasons:

1. Hearing Henry sound things out and have patience is so darling.
2. I consider this a very significant (maybe the biggest)milestone in a child's life.
3. I am amazed by your patience, Lizzy - what a dedicated and wonderful mama you are.
This is my favorite blogpost ever.

That cutest little voice. What a star! Can you send me a "Teach your child to do math in 100 easy lessons"...when I saw that you used it 28 years ago I thought to myself...Liz is only 28?!?!? Then I realized you probably were not reading when you were born. Oy Vey.
But if anyone WAS reading while their umbi was still connected to placenta...it would surely be you.
Sorry, coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
